Early type · 1919A white flock guardian captioned 'Pyrenean Sheep-dog' in National Geographic's 'Book of Dogs' (1919). The book explains it guarded flocks against wolves and bears rather than herding — the type later standardised as the Great Pyrenees, not the smaller Pyrenean Shepherd.
